Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver AJ BrownHe recently showed compassion and sportsmanship away from the football field. He followed through on his promise to visit Andre Howard III. The 10-year-old boy bravely saved the life of his sister after a tragic plane accident in Northeast Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Plane Crash: A Heartbreaking Incident
The 31st of January is a day that many people look forward to. Learjet 55 Crash near Roosevelt Mall All six passengers on the medical flight bound for Springfield Branson National Airport, before it headed to Mexico, and one passenger in an automobile were killed. Andre Howard III, his father and three siblings were in the car when the tragic event occurred. Andre, in an act of selflessness, shielded Andre’s 4-year old sister from the debris which struck his head. Andre’s emergency surgery was made possible by a passerby who applied pressure with his shirt on the injury.
After being transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and showing remarkable improvements “overnight”, Andre showed amazing improvement. After waking, Andre’s first concern was his sister’s health and if the Super Bowl had been missed.
AJ Brown’s Visit and Promise
Andre was a hero who loved the Eagles and he did it heroically. AJ Brown posted on X Andre was also wished a quick recovery by Twitter (formerly Twitter). He pledged to dedicate his upcoming game to the young fan and promised to visit him upon his return, hopefully with some “hardware” – alluding to a Super Bowl victory.
Brown kept his promise and surprised Andre in the hospital. LaShawn hamiel shared pictures on Facebook of her son, who is usually a talkative boy, “smiling ear-to-ear and silent” when he was in the presence his hero. Brown also brought Eagles gear and the Lombardi Trophy. He even connected Andre to Eagles running-back Saquon Barkley over phone.
“Thank you for everything and bringing that WIN home for ‘TRE’ the world’s greatest SUPERHERO,” Hamiel expressed on Facebook.


Andre Recovers with Community Support
Andre has a long road to recovery that includes more surgeries, therapy and on-going treatment. A GoFundMe page A fund has been set up to cover medical expenses. The campaign, as of the date of writing this article, has raised over $193.200 thanks to the generosity of over 5,000 donors.
