Jesse Love wins amidst the chaos at Daytona Xfinity Series United Rentals – 300
United Rentals 300 – the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Daytona International Speedway – ended with a stunning and chaotic finale. A huge wreck in the final lap sent several drivers into the care center on the track for assessment. However, all of the drivers were cleared later. Jesse Love’s Whelen Chevrolet won after the race was filled with many challenges and dramatic moments.
The field is shaken by a late-race wreck
Multi-car collisions in the last laps had an important impact on the outcome. One of the drivers involved explained, “Causing that last wreck was not how I wanted our night to end…I should have pulled left a little earlier.” This was due to tight racing in the outer row, which led to an accordion-like effect that caused the collision.
Austin Hill’s mechanical woes
Austin Hill experienced mechanical issues, namely a leak of fluid, early in the final phase. Hill continued to race despite the problem, and even led the race briefly. Hill eventually relinquished his lead to Ryan Sieg, Justin Allgaier and a number of pit stops under the green flag.
Josh Bilicki Kris Wright involved in the Pit Road Incident
The drama of the night was also felt on pit road, where a collision between Josh Bilicki (left) and Kris Wright (right) resulted early in Wright’s exit from the race. This prompted the 5th caution period.
Contact Between Sammy Smith & Justin Bonsignore
Sammy Smith made contact with Justin Bonsignore, and both were affected by the collision. Bonsignore’s attempted blockage of Ryan Sieg, Justin Allgaier and Smith led to a collision between Smith which caused significant damage to their Toyota race cars.
## Connor Zilisch involved in Another Big One
A major accident in the last moments of the race forced NASCAR Overtime. Connor Zilisch and Justin Allgaier’s collision tangled up several competitors, including Parker Retzlaff.
## Jesse Love Claims Victory
Jesse Love, amidst chaos and wreckage, managed to make it through the last laps, and win his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway.
