Jodie Foster and Son Charlie at SAG Awards: A Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Charlie Bernard was Jodie Foster’s special guest for the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2025. It was a very rare occasion for the mother and son to appear together on the red-carpet.

She was nominated in the Best Actress category for “True Detective Night Country” and stunned in an elegant maroon dress with a boat neck. Her ensemble was accentuated with a pair of chunky and bold gold cuffs. Charlie, 26 complemented the elegance of his mother in an elegant black tuxedo. He was showing his support to Foster for her nomination as outstanding actress in a TV movie or limited-series.

Jodie and Cydney Bernard share two sons, Charlie (age 23) and Christopher (“Kit”) Bernard (age 23), with their former partner. They separated in 2008. Foster often mentions how important her family is to her.

Foster received much praise for her portrayal of Detective Elizabeth Danvers, in HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country”. She was even awarded a Golden Globe Award as the Best Female Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series. Kit, Foster’s son, was the date at that historic event, and Charlie received the award for the SAG Awards.

During her Golden Globes acceptance speech, Foster expressed her deep gratitude to her family, stating: “I just want to thank my family…Because Kit, my scientist son, and Charlie, my actor son who’s starting his career, hopefully you understand the joy, such joy, that comes from doing really hard, meaningful, good work. This is, of course for my sons. I’m so proud and grateful to you. Alexandra Hedison, her husband, was thanked for life by the woman she loves.

Charlie’s mother accompanied him to the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January of 2024. Charlie supported his mother during her interview by sitting in the crowd. Fallon recognized Charlie by saying, “Tall Guy!” “He’s an excellent man!” The camera was focused on him.

Charlie Foster graduated from Yale University in 2021. He developed his love for theatre during his stay at Yale. In his biography on the Yale College of Arts’ website, he calls himself a “Theater Geek” and enjoys writing, improvising and hopes to be “funny.” He is now apparently pursuing his career as an actor.
