Aubrey Plaza honors her late husband Jeff Baena on SNL Anniversary Special
Aubrey Plaza, celebrated for her role in “The White Lotus,” made a poignant public appearance at *SNL 50: The Anniversary Special* held at Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center on Sunday, February 16. It was her first public appearance since her recent husband’s death, Jeff Baena.
Plaza, who opted not to walk the red carpet at the Grammys, took to the podium to introduce Miley and Brittany Howard. People Magazine reported that Plaza wore black slacks, a blazer, and tie-dye top as an emotional tribute to Baena.
The shirt had a special meaning. Plaza previously revealed that Baena and she wore tie-dye pajamas for their wedding ceremony. Jeff got into tie-dying during quarantine. I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us,” the actress explained during a 2021 appearance on *The Drew Barrymore Show*. She finished her look by wearing a crown of rosemary.

Jeff Baena, a respected writer and director best known for his work on *I Heart Huckabees*, starring Jason Schwartzman and Jude Law, passed away on Friday, January 3, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner. He was 47 years old.
Baena’s parents released to Page Six an emotional statement expressing grief over his passing and requesting privacy. Thank you to all who have offered their support. “Please respect our privacy at this time.”
Aubrey Plaza’s professional and personal relationship with Jeff Baena was a successful one. Baena directed Plaza in the film *Life After Beth*, showcasing his appreciation for her talents.

With each project I have made, I appreciate her more. She is incredibly talented, smart, and a great producer. She’s also a writer.
