The Rock‘s return to WWE SmackDown has fueled a lot of speculation. It also solidified his role as we head into WrestleMania. The Rock’s presence has had a ripple effect, causing both internal and external tensions in WWE.
Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock”, shared during his SmackDown promo of February 21, his desire to make Cody Rhodes the Undisputed Wrestling Champion that he thinks he is. The Rock declared he wanted to subtly ‘take a piece’ of Rhodes’ soul, adding a touch of darkness to the otherwise heroic character. He deferred action and said he’d wait to hear Rhodes speak at the Elimination chamber event on 1st March.
The direction the storyline is taking has caused confusion among some members of the WWE Universe. The WWE creative team was only given a very short notice of The Rock’s appearances.
Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter also reported on the internal unrest caused by The Rock suddenly taking center stage in all promotional material for the Elimination Chamber. The Rock was the only person featured in the Elimination Chamber promotional materials, which reportedly caused some discontent within WWE. Discussions have been raised about his presence over other performers in the Elimination Chamber event.
The Rock has a huge influence in the business. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a world-renowned entertainment icon who also serves on the TKO Group Board of Directors. His star power, and influence in the organization, are highlighted by his ability to command attention.

WWE Elimination Chamber in Toronto is set to take place on March 1st, 2025. The card promises to be stacked. This event will include a Men’s Elimination Chamber Match (John Cena vs. CMPunk vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Logan Paul vs. Damian Priest vs. Seth Rollins, current World Heavyweight Champ) and a Woman’s Elimination Chamber Match (Liv Morgan vs. Alexa Belair vs. Bianca Belair vs. Bayley vs. Naomi vs. Roxanne
The Rock will also be making an appearance to analyze Cody Rhodes response to The Rock’s offer. This Premium Live Event represents the final major stop on ‘The Road to WrestleMania 41,’ which will take place from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, April 19th, and Sunday, April 20th, 2025. Wrestlemania 2019 is going to be another exciting edition.
