Draymond Green and Fans Discuss the NBA All-Star Game’s Format Failure
Fans and athletes alike were left wondering what direction the NBA All-Star Game was heading in after the 74th All-Star Game.
**Breaking News:** Lakers Superstar LeBron James Sidelined, Misses NBA All-Star Game
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver overhauled the format after years of decreasing interest. Last season’s high-scoring game (211-186 win for Western Conference against Eastern Conference), prompted by a historically high score, compelled him to do so. A mini-tournament was substituted for the East vs. West traditional matchup. Four drafted teams were involved: Kenny’s Young Guns (Kenny’s Young Guns), Chuck’s Global Stars (Chuck’s Global Stars), Shaq’s OGs (Shaq’s OGs), and Team Candace. The latter included the Rising Stars winner. Shaq’s OGs were ultimately victorious.

Social media was awash with criticism of the radical changes. The new NBA All-Star Weekend structure has caused discontent among many fans.
Is this NBA All Star Game format the worst ever?

The NBA all-star game is the hardest I have ever seen an NBA team work.
This format must be maintained👏🏻

The worst NBA all-star game ever. This is the worst all star game in NBA history. It is not possible to force players to be hard-working. This has to come from within.

Please contact me for more information. @NBA If you go back to the original format, I will watch each all-star game.
It’s awful! 😢

The negative reaction was overwhelming. While some defended it, they cited the increased effort of the players.
How do you feel about the NBA all-star format? It’s a good format but I would remove all the performances between games and play just the actual games.

Draymond green’s stinging criticism
Draymond green, Golden State Warriors’ star and TNT analyst, added his voice to the chorus in disapproval.
Then you are done. “You worked all year for an All-Star. And you only get to play until 40.” Green declared emphatically that this was unfair for Victor Wembanyama. He had taken the game very seriously. Green stated emphatically, “Shai Gillian-Alexander took the game very seriously. Melo, Kobe and other players who had good scoring nights come to mind when you mention chasing the record for points. The game doesn’t allow them to chase after the points record.
Green questioned the importance of showcasing Rising Stars rather than established All-Stars. “All to watch some rising star. The Olympic team is about to play, but we also get the chance to enjoy the U-19 Olympic team playing against the Olympic squad. What are we doing, come on? It’s ridiculous.
Then he concluded his assessment with the following: “This is a sucks. It ain’t Basketball.”
All-Stars are the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work. And you get to play up to 40 and then you’re done… Cmon what are we doing? It’s ridiculous.”

## Changes to be made in the NBA All-Star Game
Adam Silver, the NBA and other league officials are facing increasing pressure from the public to fix the problems with the All-Star Game’s format this year. It was felt that the abbreviated time limit, driven by a 40 point target, undermined players who worked hard to get selected for All-Stars.
This format of the All-Star Game is likely to be short-lived. NBA officials hope to return to the traditional structure of the All-Star Game, which could include new elements that enhance motivation for players and prioritize the exciting basketball action the fans desire. It will be important to find a way forward that addresses the problems with the NBA All-Star Game.
