Deion Sanders has had a lasting impact on the game of football, and not just because he is a Hall of Famer. His sons Shedeur, Shilo, and Deion Sanders have been coached by him at the University of Colorado Buffaloes. They are now generating NFL Draft speculation.
Shilo, Shedeur’s older brother, isn’t projected to be a top three pick at the NFL Draft in 2025. Shilo Sanders was not invited by the NFL Scouting Combine 2025 in Indianapolis, according to recent news. The door to the NFL still remains open for Shilo.

Shilo Sanders participated in an East-West Shrine Bowl where college players could showcase their talent to NFL Scouts. The Colorado Buffaloes Pro Day will give him another opportunity to impress NFL scouts. The event allows draft-eligible football players to work out and perform in front NFL representatives.
Shilo spent his first two years at South Carolina University. As a South Carolina Gamecock he played 13 games. Sanders recorded 33 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. Under his father’s Colorado coaching, Shilo saw a significant acceleration in development. Shilo’s career-highs were 70 tackles in his junior season (2023) with a defensive touchdown. He also recorded three passes defended and four forced turnovers. In the following season, he had 67 total tackles. He also recorded two tackles-for-loss, one sack and two passes defended.
Shilo Sand is a talent NFL teams can develop. He was projected as a late round draft pick. The NFL Combine didn’t happen, but his performance in Colorado’s Pro Day was crucial for his draft prospects. The qualities that are sought after in safety candidates: ball-hawking and tackling abilities, can be seen.
Scouts are going to be looking at his coverage, as well as speed and agility. The performance at his pro-day is an opportunity for him to raise his draft profile.
Deion’s sons’ success in football is testament to both their father’s influences and dedication. Shedeur could land with teams such as the Tennessee Titans (or Cleveland Browns), New York Giants or the New York Giants. All of these are considered to be quarterback-focused. Even speculation has been made that the Browns may select Shedeur Sanders’ teammate Travis Hunter, who is considered the top NFL prospect in this year’s draft. Hunter is yet another Colorado Buffaloes’ player who has impressed NFL scouts.
Shilo’s draft position leaves a wide range of NFL teams open to him. The story of him and his brother Shedeur playing on the same NFL club would be an interesting one.
